Rob Roy failed to secure a Central League quarter final spot going out after a penalty shoot-out in an untidy encounter.

Rabs got off to a dream start by opening the scoring after only two minutes. Diack sent over a cleverly weighted cross from the right for the unmarked Easton to hammer home from close range.

Bradley should have increased the Adamslie Park sides lead in the 17th minute but wasted his chance by firing wide of the target with only keeper McCluskey to beat.

A minute later Pollok equalised when McAulay launched the ball deep to the back post to Sawers to send a looping header over Rabs keeper Robertson and into the net.

As Pollok pressed, Reilly’s low drive lacked power and failed to trouble Robertson then McAulay sliced a shot wide. Before the interval Rabs suffered a double injury blow when Diack then Chick Connolly limped off injured.

Three minutes after the break McAleenan sent Easton through on goal but keeper McCluskey beat him in a race to the ball.

Lok’s Sawers had an opportunity to score but curled his shot just wide of goal. Rabs went in front from the penalty spot in the 61st minute when ex-Rabs player Carter brought Bradley down in the box giving Referee Colin Steven an easy decision to make. Kenny Connolly gave McCluskey no chance with his well-taken spot-kick.

Rabs stepped up their game with Easton bringing out a fine save from McCluskey, minutes later the home side should have made it three when Hunter set up Lindsay but his weak shot went past the post. At the other end Sawers miss-hit a shot when in a good position before Robertson brilliantly tipped over a Kane volley.

Pollok squared the tie in the 74th minute when McAulay sent over a cross from the left for Sawers to power a header into the net with Robertson just failing to keep the ball out. Fraser missed a glaring chance to put Pollok in front when he lashed a McArdle cross over the bar from two yards.

In the final minute Sawers thought he had completed his hat-trick, but the assistant’s flag brought an end to the striker’s celebrations.

Pollok scored with their first four penalty kicks. Lindsay, Connolly and Crooks counted for Rabs but keeper McCluskey saved Bradley’s eighth kick leaving Lok’s Reilly to score the ninth spot-kick and a place in the quarter finals of the cup.
