Biggar Rugby Club appeal to SRU after title-winning season was voided
Although the season had been unfinished due to coronavirus lockdown and Biggar still had two games to play, they were mathematically assured of being champions but this – and their promotion to the top flight – has been wiped out as the SRU has written off all the Scottish domestic leagues for season 2019-2020.
But everyone associated with the Hartreemill club is hoping that this success can be reinstated by virtue of a fruitful appeal.

“The committee therefore elected to make an appeal based on this and this appeal was sent last Wednesday, the day following the announcement.
“The SRU have acknowledged receipt and the club has now to await the SRU’s deliberations. The club now has another anxious wait for the SRU response.
“It is not known when this will be made so until then it’s a case of ‘fingers crossed’!”
If their appeal is successful, Biggar would support an expansion of the top flight from 10 to 11 teams next season, affecting no-one else other than National 1 which would also have 11 teams.
