ALLAN Glen’s got back on track on Saturday by winning a rather tense game in which both sides needed the points to secure their league position.
The home side opened the scoring after eight minutes when a break by McKeown backed up by Stich and Thomson allowed Morrell to touch down but Waysiders replied immediately when an infringement by the Bearyards team gave McCann an easy penalty.
Although the forward confrontation was a dour battle, Allan Glen’s backs always looked dangerous with the speed of McKay, McKeown and McAvitty giving the home side a considerable edge.
It was home prop Muir, however, who stretched the Glen’s lead when he barged over near the posts.
Thomson converted and added a penalty just before half time to make the score 15 - 3.
Immediately after the restart the visitor’s winger McNeill eluded several home defenders to touch down on the wing but the conversion attempt failed.
Allan Glen’s added to their tally when a clearance kick by the visitors went awry and was collected by Thomson who popped it to Stich who galloped over close to the posts. Thomson converted.
There was no further scoring although the visitors then began to apply considerable pressure on the home line and only some stalwart defending managed to keep the home line intact.
