Taekwon-do girls try to qualify for Olympics

A PAIR of taekwon-do girls coached by Carluke-based David Condie are trying to qualify for sport's biggest showpiece, the Olympic Games.

Megan Murray (17), of Carmuir, Forth and her West Lothian team-mate India Isles (also 17) will battle it out for a place in the British squad at the 2012 Games in London.

Megan, a 52 to 56kg competitor who will join other hopefuls at a qualifier in London's Rowhampton University this Sunday February 21, said: "Six females will qualify after a selection process including fitness tests and a sparring session of three two-minute rounds.

"If I finish in the top six I'll qualify for a boot camp in the UK this April, at a venue still to be decided.

"If I get through that then I'll move onto another boot camp in Korea.

"Making the final six women in the British team would totally change my life."
